Changes in fecundity do not predict invasiveness: A model study of transgenic plants. Ecology (Tempe) 75, 249-252.
| Bergelson J. (1994).
| Two lines of Arapidopsis thaliana, the wild-type Columbia ecotype and the chlorsulfuron-resistant line GH50, that carries a single dominant nuclear mutation, were compared in a field experiment to assess whether a change in fecundity can be used to predict the invasiveness of a species. It could be shown that a genotype with inferior seed production invaded natural habitats as successfully as did the wild-type genotype. This can occur whenever population size is limited by factors other than the production of seeds.
