Transgenic and somaclonal potato plants confer field resistance to the potato leafroll luteovirus. Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology 20, 123-124.
| Kawchuk L.M., Lynch, D. R., Martin, R. R., Kozub, G. C., Farries, B. (1998).
| Potato plants transformed with a potato leafroll luteovirus coat protein and somaclonal variants were characterized in green house and field experiments. Abnormal phenotypes were observed in all 97 lines tested (reduced plant height, leaf chlorosis, delayed flowering, abnormal flower structure and reduced tuber yields). Primary and secondary symptoms of viral infection were observed in wild type and in modified plants, but the incidence and severity of internal tuber necrosis was significantly reduced in each of the genetically modified lines.
